Rev. Eddie Walker, III

The Reverend Eddie Walker, III, an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church,believes that our ultimate purpose is to be a reflection and representative of the Love of God.

Reverend Walker has a true heart for serving the “least of these”, particularly children with special academic and behavioral needs.  One of the prevalent ways he has served in this capacity is through the field of Education, where for the last 12 years he has been employed in the DeKalb County School System as a Special Education teacher, Instructional Specialist, and MTSS/RTI Chairperson.  Reverend Walker has also worked with the Devereaux Advanced Behavior Health Children’s Psychiatric Facility, and the H.E.R.O. for Children program, which serves youth who have been infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS.  While with H.E.R.O. he served as the Director for Transition to Adulthood, which assists children in developing life skills, while supporting their pursuit of higher education and career development.  In addition to his professional endeavors, Rev. Walker has also been a strong advocate for children in hispersonal life, by developing a mentorship program for young men that focus on social and emotional development, and exposure to new opportunities and environments.

Rev. Walker is originally from the 3rd Episcopal District in the West Virginia Annual Conference,Charleston District where his home church is the Bethel AME Church in Holden, West Virginia(Rev. Constance Allen, Pastor).  Throughout his career in ministry Rev. Walker has served at Greater Saint Paul AME Church in Morgantown, West Virginia, Saint Philip AME Church,Greater St. Paul, Greater Smith Chapel, and Greater Turner Chapel AME Churches in Atlanta, GA. In 2006, Rev. Walker was ordained an Itinerant Elder by Retired Bishop Robert Vaughn Webster. Rev. Walker currently serves the people of Thomson, GA as Pastor of New Zion Hill AME Church in the Augusta North Conference in the 6th Episcopal District under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Toni Belin-Ingram.  Reverend Walker also serves on the Augusta Conference Board of Examiners as the second year class instructor for Intro to Hermeneutics.

Rev. Walker was born and raised in Aracoma, West Virginia.  He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Marshall University, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from West Virginia University, a Master of Divinity degree with a focus on Black Church Studies from Emory University’s Candler School of Theology. Reverend Walker is a Fall1998 Initiate of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated Epsilon Delta Chapter.

Ultimately, Reverend Walker is servant and reminds himself daily the quote that states:

I am here only to be truly helpful.

I am here to represent the God that sent me.

I do not have to worry about what to say or to do, because he who sent me will direct me.

I am content to be wherever God wishes, knowing God goes there with me.

I will be healed as I let God teach me to heal.
